As a former resident of Beaufort County, let me just tell you up front that Beaufort is remarkably congested… so if you’re desperate for real seclusion…then you’re going to be disappointed. That said, there are some nice cabins and/or condos on the Sea Islands just past Beaufort. You might try finding something along Hwy 21 anywhere from Harbor Island to Fripp Island. However, Beaufort is about to celebrate its annual Water Festival…which means that most rentals are probably already booked up.

I have to tell you: I was born and raised in Beaufort…but I think you’re going to have a really stressful vacation if you stay there. I think you’d have a better time if you spent your vacation in Charleston…and better yet, Savannah, GA…which is only 45 minutes to the south of Beaufort.
